I must say that the protesters masks are reminding me of V For Vendetta :-)

And I can not help to connect that to images of the French Revolution: :-)

Peasants are the same in nature regardless of time and place, Singaporeans or French, now or then, went they can not withstand their situations any longer, either it is called Tak Boleh Tahan or Insupportable, the results are similar regardless of Race Language or Religion. :-)

Singaporean Should Demand Presidential Pay-Cut

The famiLEE LEEgime staged so much of Ministerial Pay Cut Propaganda recently, as if that could redeem their guilt of LEEgalized plundering and graft.

Please be reminded Singaporeans that Prata is still drawing millions and doing next to nothing for this obscene amount of salary. If Prata does not volunteer his own pay cut I call on Singaporeans to deliver protest petitions to Istana gate daily until his pay is reduced.

I think you know what to do Singaporeans! :-)

British Parliament Corruption Scandal Broke-Out

  1. Yahoo UK News URL

  3. Yahoo UK News URL
Undercover reporters infiltrated a network and did investigative journalism against the corruptions in British Parliament to prove that Legislators are willing to TAKE $MONEY$ to amend the law for those who are willing to pay them!

It is still not know for how long had these corruptions been going on.

This means that for those Rich & Powerful such as major businesses they can buy the British Lords to tailor the British laws to their own businesses' advantage.

The world must watch this scandal to see who goes to prison for this.

Bravo and Thumbs Up for the reporters who are behind such exposure. Singapore really need such reporters, weather you are foreign media or whatever, as long as you can dig out the corruptions - the bigger the better! Singaporean people will LOVE YOU!

:-)

Brown pledges to 'get to the bottom' of Lords bribery claims

Prime Minister Gordon Brown pledged on Monday to "get to the bottom" of claims that some members of the House of Lords expressed willingness to seek amendments to legislation in exchange for cash. Skip related content

Brown described the claims as "very serious allegations", adding that Janet Royall, Labour's leader in the House of Lords, parliament's upper chamber, would investigate the matter and would meet with the peers accused.

The Sunday Times newspaper said that four peers from the governing Labour Party, including two former ministers, had agreed to help undercover reporters posing as business lobbyists to obtain amendments for between 24,000 pounds and 120,000 pounds a year.

All four deny any wrongdoing.

"These are very serious allegations," Brown said.

"It's precisely because of that that Lady Royall announced yesterday she would investigate the matter as an issue of urgency. I know that she will be meeting those that have been named."

He added: "It's important that you don't pre-judge those investigations, but these are serious allegations. We're determined to get to the bottom of what's happened."

"Whatever action needs to be taken will be taken."

The House of Lords's Code of Conduct notes that its members "must never accept any financial inducement as an incentive or reward for exercising parliamentary influence."

The Sunday Times reporters approached those peers, and six others who either declined to meet with them or rebuffed their offers, by claiming to be lobbyists for a foreign company seeking exemptions from legislation.

Members of Britain's House of Lords are unelected and are not paid a salary, but are allowed to claim expenses for attending sittings of the House or committee meetings.

According to the newspaper, former BAE Systems consultant Thomas Taylor told the reporters he would not propose a potential amendment himself, but said he would work "behind the scenes" to sway ministers and officials for a 120,000-pound-a-year retainer.

Former energy minister Peter Truscott similarly said he would work behind the scenes for up to 72,000 pounds, the paper said.

Lewis Moonie, a former defence minister, said he would help for 30,000 pounds a year, while Peter Snape indicated he would help for 24,000 pounds, The Sunday Times said.

Taylor later denied saying he would accept a fee for being taken on as an adviser, while Moonie said he had had an "informal conversation" but insisted that no contract had been offered.

Police to be called in over House of Lords claims

Liberal Democrats are expected to be make complaints to the police on Monday over accusations that four Labour Party peers were willing to take money in order to influence legislation. Skip related content

The Sunday Times newspaper said that four peers from the ruling Labour Party -- including two former ministers -- had agreed to help undercover reporters posing as business lobbyists to obtain amendments for between 24,000 pounds and 120,000 pounds a year.

Janet Royall -- Labour's leader of the House of Lords -- said in a statement that she would pursue the claims "with the utmost vigour."

The House of Lords's Code of Conduct notes that its members "must never accept any financial inducement as an incentive or reward for exercising parliamentary influence."

According to the Sunday Times, Thomas Taylor declined to propose a potential amendment himself, but said he would work "behind the scenes" to sway ministers and officials.

Taylor -- a former consultant for defence manufacturer BAE Systems -- reportedly agreed to a 120,000-pound-a-year retainer.

Responding to the claims, Taylor said he was approached by two people claiming to work for a lobbying firm and that they had suggested taking him on as an advisor. He never said he would accept a fee, he added.

Former energy minister Peter Truscott similarly said he would work behind the scenes for up to 72,000 pounds, the paper said.

Lewis Moonie, a former defence minister, said he would help for 30,000 pounds a year, while the Sunday Times also reported that Peter Snape indicated he would help for 24,000 pounds.

Moonie said he had had an "informal conversation" but insisted that no contract had been offered.

Truscott and Snape were not contactable for comment.

Taiwan is removing 30K foreign labor to keep jobs for local

Taiwanese news today

In oder to rescue the jobs of local Taiwanese labors Taiwan is cutting away 30K foreign employees this year among the other measures aiming to keep unemployment rate below 4.5%. These measures includes strictly employing only local labors for primary public civil engineering projects.

Lee Kuan Yew's famiLEE LEEgime insist that more Singaporeans will lose jobs when foreigners were sent back.

This only proved one simple fact of incompetence on the famiLEE LEEgime, that is, they are incapable of leading Singapore's economy by keeping a healthy balanced RATIO of Foreign / Local employments. Their ratio is so unhealthy and rigid which made the economy so fragile and weak. The worst aspect is the unbearable dependency on foreigners which had made Singaporean economy so vulnerable and fragile.

However these famiLEE LEEgime morons still don't know their shames and kept bragging their big mouths.

Dispite the 20% ministerial pay cut their million dollar obscene rip-off salaries are Still The World's highest form of LEEgalized Corruption. Ass Loong Son's salary is still million dollar more than Bush & Obama's salaries added up.

Public Funds Squandered by famiLEE LEEgime to fill up Huge Lehman Brothers' Damages

CNA 154th News

SINGAPORE: Over half of investors who complained about their investments in products linked to the collapsed Lehman Brothers will get some or all of their money back.
According to the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), those who will be compensated had bought Lehman Minibonds, DBS High Notes 5 and Merrill Lynch Jubilee Series 3 products.

I suggest Singaporeans and tax payers to take this position to oppose these compensations. Since this is very unfair to the tax payers and members of public that huge sum from public fund / equity is squandered by famiLEE LEEgime to fill the huge damages. There is no doubt that the famiLEE LEEgime regardless how indirectly will be milking tax payers and public in order to recover funds they squandered to fill this huge hole of Lehman Brother damages.

Ask yourself why should the coffer of public and tax payers be responsible? Is it fair for famiLEE LEEgime to take your money to fill up that huge hole to ease the political pressure they had been facing?

Are the public funds being used to bail out the bond losers or abused to save the corrupted and incompetent famiLEE LEEgime instead? They are squandering OUR FUNDS to COVER THEIR OWN POLITICAL CRISIS.

Those who lost in bonds can protest and put pressure on famiLEE LEEgime demanding compensations. We can also protest to demand famiLEE LEEgime to stop squandering OUR TAX DOLLARS this way.

The bonds are their Risk Bearing Investments. If the investors made gains they are not even required to pay tax from such Capital Gains. How unfair to tax payers to have to compensate them when they made a lost! These
Risk Bearing Investments are gambling nature, the public should etically not compensate their losses because such compensation is not only unfair, moreover also such compensation will encourage more people to take reckless and meaningless risks and then later refuse to accept their own responsibilities while in greed anticipate to gain financial interest of gambling nature.

If famiLEE LEEgime could squander public coffers to comepensate Lehman Bond losses, they could also squander to compensate casino losers, as long as casino loser could find ways to protest and put famiLEE LEEgime in political hotspot, and the lame LEEgime would squander public funds in their hands to bail themselves out.

Although I support victims of the Lehman Bothers scandal to voice up and expose financial institutions misleading sales and inducing them to buy defective financial products, I stated clearly that I am not supportive to compensation using public resources due to the said unfairness. I am supportive to those who suffer grievances and victimized to demand resignation and punishment against the culprits, and to hold authorities accountable.

However the accountability should also work towards fairness for the bigger majority of public not just those minority who had selected to put their own monies in to these High Reward / High Return financial products. It is unfair to LARGER MAJORITY who did not make any such decision to take any risk. The bigger majority tax payers actually include those who are poorer than these minority who at least have money to buy Lehmans' bonds.

After squandering the huge sum to compensate these people, the famiLEE LEEgime have to milk these poorer tax payers to worst extend in order to recover these compensation funds. That is in other words, the poorer and more honest people are being extorted by famiLEE LEEgime for money to compensate those richer individuals who had the money to so called INVEST. The decision of famiLEE LEEgime to compensate actually victimzied more poorer GST payers, who could be actually borrowing debts to pay GST, when GST goes to filling up the huge holes of Lehman Brothers!

How is this fair?

About Speakers' Corner: I-S magazine' Interview Q & A

I-S Magazine 9.Jan.2009 Issue on Speakers' Corner

I would just post out the Q & A of that actual interview, because some illustrations and points are what I would like to have on this blog although they were originally written for that interview instead of this blog. I think I should also blog on the Speakers' Corner's issues. :-) I am doing cut & paste from email, so that I won't have to type everything again.

-----------
1. How can Speakers' Corner (given its recent revamp to include public demonstrations) help with freedom of speech in Singapore?

Answer:

Activists and potential activists now have SAFE space to sharpen their skills, enhance their capabilities and prepare themselves. Speakers Corner serve as their Training Ground. When they reached higher level they will be ready for stronger challenges outside the boundaries of that LITTLE CORNER. :-) That is how I recommend people to take advantage of Speakers Corner.

2. What are your own views on the new, "relaxed" Speakers' Corner?

Answer:

It did helped I must say. But the space for free speech provided is far from sufficient.

What was "Provided" was actually what the activists had WON by fighting against the authoritarian regime. As it is still insufficient, the fight MUST CONTINUE ON.

What was won by the people had been utilized by many groups including "rights for maids" and "rights for bond investors" etc etc. The people had obviously enjoy the liberation which was fought and won by activists confronting and embarrassing the authoritarians.

3. In your opinion, why aren't more Singaporeans making use of this space (and opportunity) to voice their concerns?

Answer:

It reflected the apathy and lack of motivation of the people indeed.

I can not use the example of birds released from cages after long lost of freedom can not immediately fly. The example is NOT suitable because the Speakers' Corner is indeed a tiny space in Singapore which is more Like A Cage Itself then anything else. The entire restrictive environment in Singapore against freedom of speech is to be liken to the Waterfall Aviary of Jurong Bird Park. The Singaporean people liken to the captive birds in that Waterfall Aviary. Now if you then built another tiny cage within the Waterfall Aviary, and named it the FREEDOM FLYING CORNER, and instruct the birds that they could have their own freedom to fly if they first shut themselves inside this FREEDOM FLYING CORNER.... you will see the reason why not many birds will get in this new cage called FREEDOM FLYING CORNER which is within the entire restrictive environment of Singapore liken to the entire Waterfall Aviary.

In my opinion, the Singaporean people well recognized the fact that they still live within the confines of this restrictive & protective regime, liken to the birds within the Waterfall Aviary, therefore creating yet another boundary defining a tiny space to offer limited freedom, does not really help nor motivate the people to develop skills and ability to exercise such freedom that the overall long term restriction had prevented them to exercise. What is the point for birds to exercise flying within a smaller cage which is within yet another larger aviary which still deprive their freedom (of speech).

I bet those who tried to speak for their 1st time at Speakers' Corner felt like an animal test subject in some kind of speech test lab being part of an experimental program to be observed and recorded as results for some studies. :-) Because climate within the tiny Speakers' Corner is so artificial and unnatural and indeed awkward in the closed and restrictive environment of Singapore, the speakers know that they are not outside Singapore, they are fully aware of the Waterfall Aviary enclosure still outside Speakers' Corner enclosing that tiny unique space. THE FREEDOM ISN'T REALLY THERE for them to exercise and enjoy! The people rather exercise their REAL freedom of speech when their are OUTSIDE Singapore, I personally know of such people.

For those who are familiar with Singapore's prisons, they will know that the prisoners have 1 hour of YARD TIME each day during which they have more freedom than other times when they were in their cells. However most prisoners still will not exercise too much during their Yard Time, because they still know that they are within the prison environment. They rather wait till they are out of prison to exercise themselves and enjoy their REAL UNRESTRICTED FREEDOM. The Speakers' Corner is comparable to the Yard Time, the entire Singapore comparable to the whole prison in this 2nd example.

:-) At the very beginning of my answer I wrote: the apathy and lack of motivation of the people, in the examples I illustrated and explained why the apathy & de-motivation.

4. What would you like to see taking place at Speakers' Corner?

Answer:

I like to see the regime show some sincerity about Speaker Corner:

  1. Provide the stage for the speakers.
  2. Provide the proper ground for the audience.
  3. Provide the roof for both the aboves.
And indeed they don't have to construct. The original stage of Hong Lim Park is already there, but the regime had given it to PA instead of letting it become part of Speakers' Corner. I want to ask why the regime don't let National Parks take over the entire CC from PA instead? They have the funds to build the CC at other locations. Let Park rangers use the CC's office, and accept registration to book and use the stage.

I am aware that PA or the management of CC asked for S$5000 per night for the use of that stage, this is the figure when I did the last check.

  1. I would like to see large events be held there at Speakers' Corner.
  2. I would like to see the word CORNER removed from it name. Rename it Hong Lim Park for People's Free Speech or something like that. :-) 芳林自由演讲公园。
  3. Let some other rooms in the CC's building become in-door seminar rooms for people to book & use. The N-Parks currently have such rooms at Alexandra Road's Hort Park. Why not also make Hong Lim one?

Video of MOM Protest & Arrest

Very well done video!

I am impressed.

:-)

On Monday, 12.Jan.2009 I went to Central Mata-Chu of famiLEE LEEgime before 1500Hr after I found out that Sealan Palay & Chong Kai Siong had been arrested. I was supposed to be in court actually at that time for Pre-Trial-Conference, but I rushed to Centonment Mata-Chu, before the sub-court.

Matter is they had been protesting during lunchtime at the steps of Ministry of Man Power. Opposite the sub-court actually. The famiLEE LEEgime's mata arrested them at about 1300hr.

Activists and reproters were there and got photos and video. But the 154th does not report much about it.

Sealan Palay & Chong Kai Siong had protested for our Burmese Activist Friends who had been refused renewal of work permits.

This is a video by activist producer Ho Choon Hiong.
At mata-chu, I found out the name of Duty Investigation Officer, and was informed that both the activists were arrested in the charges of Criminal Trespassing. As you will see in this video, they were only on the steps of public walkway - hardly can be trespassing the Ministry of Man Power's building.

Soon after my PTC in court, I called the mata IO, and they did not answer. I left message for SIO Jeffrie Collins & he dare not call me back. An hour or so later the both of them were released by famiLEE LEEgime as expected.

If you can not view the protest & arrest video please click here.

families & friends held memorial for Mr. JBJ

At the St Andrew's Cathedral on Saturday 3.Jan.2009 between 1700hr to 1830hr, friends and family members of late Mr. JBJ held an exhibition of photos and a church service to remember him. A proposed scholarship in the name of Mr. JBJ had been pronounced.

This memorial is non-political, therefore I still feel that another political memorial is still necessary beside the one on New Year Eve by SDP. At the very least Reform Party should hold another memorial for Mr. JBJ, & if WP is willing they should still hold yet another. Mr. JBJ deserves all these from us, and from different angles and perspectives the great leader of opposition should be remembered by all of us in more than one events, when it is not possible to have matters mixed.

Opposition fighters counted down to 2009 & Remembered Mr. JBJ

The scenes of Giant Candle Light Message could be a record in Singapore. Hundreds of candles lit the words "FREE SINGAPORE" at Speaker's Corner on New Year Eve 2008.2009, about 15 meters height and 20 meters wide. Very beautiful very inspiring very unforgettable.

I met representatives from:

SPP WP NSP RP SDP SDA were seen, not all had spoken though. Activists with no party membership were also there.

Homeless people at Hong Lim Park were invited to enjoy the fun and food & drinks. It was indeed a meaningful matter. Very sad on new year eve when most people are celebrating and costly fireworks were blasted to the sky, we witness several homeless people making the Hong Lim Park stage their homes, to spend their 1st night of 2009 there. All we could do is to share food and drinks and friendship with them tonight. We have to fight to bring down this greedy selfish and self-enriching; corrupted and incompetent famiLEE LEEgime in order to prevent more Singaporeans to be victimized in this way. The video I took of them from afar in the dark show their belongings and 3 of them sitting or laying on the stage, too dark to see well.
